photoview v0.1.0

Media

Photoview — a simple, fast photo gallery for self-hosted personal servers, with face recognition, timeline and map views, built to browse your existing photo directory. Deployed as a single host-networked Nomad service (SQLite).

nomad-pack run photoview --registry nomploy
…or one line (add registry + run)
curl -fsSL https://packs.nomploy.com/install.sh | sh -s -- photoview

Needs nomad-pack on PATH. The script only adds the nomploy registry and runs this pack.

Back up this pack

This pack stores data in 2 Docker named volumes: photoview_dataphotoview_media

restic

# Run on the node hosting this pack. Point restic at your repo first:
# export RESTIC_REPOSITORY="s3:https://<account>.r2.cloudflarestorage.com/<bucket>"
# export RESTIC_PASSWORD="<repo-password>"
# export AWS_ACCESS_KEY_ID=<key> AWS_SECRET_ACCESS_KEY=<secret>

rclone (sync to S3/R2)

rclone sync /var/lib/docker/volumes/photoview_data/_data backup:<bucket>/photoview_data
rclone sync /var/lib/docker/volumes/photoview_media/_data backup:<bucket>/photoview_media

Paths assume the default Docker volume location (/var/lib/docker/volumes). Restore by stopping the job, restoring files into the same volume, and re-running the pack.

Readme

photoview

Photoview is a simple and user-friendly photo gallery for people who keep their photos on their own server. It builds on top of your existing directory of photos, adding a fast web UI with a timeline, albums, map view, RAW support, video and face recognition — without moving or modifying your originals.

This pack runs Photoview as a single host-networked Nomad service using its built-in SQLite database, so there's no separate DB to run.

Deploy

nomad-pack run photoview --registry=nomploy

Open http://<node-ip>:8000, create the initial user, then add a media path pointing at /photos.

Configuration

Variable Default Description
image photoview/photoview:latest Container image (pin a tag in production).
port 8000 Host port for the web UI.
data_volume photoview_data Volume for the SQLite DB and cache (/app/data).
media_volume photoview_media Volume for your photo library (/photos).
resources 1000 MHz / 1024 MB CPU and memory (face recognition wants more).

Mount your existing photo library at /photos (read-only is fine). The database and generated thumbnails persist in data_volume.
