dagu v0.1.0

Automation

Dagu — a local-first workflow engine and modern cron replacement: define DAGs in YAML and run shell/Docker/SSH jobs with a built-in web UI, no external database or broker. Deployed as a single host-networked Nomad service.

nomad-pack run dagu --registry nomploy
…or one line (add registry + run)
curl -fsSL https://packs.nomploy.com/install.sh | sh -s -- dagu

Needs nomad-pack on PATH. The script only adds the nomploy registry and runs this pack.

Back up this pack

This pack stores data in one Docker named volume: dagu_data

restic

# Run on the node hosting this pack. Point restic at your repo first:
# export RESTIC_REPOSITORY="s3:https://<account>.r2.cloudflarestorage.com/<bucket>"
# export RESTIC_PASSWORD="<repo-password>"
# export AWS_ACCESS_KEY_ID=<key> AWS_SECRET_ACCESS_KEY=<secret>
restic backup \
  /var/lib/docker/volumes/dagu_data/_data

rclone (sync to S3/R2)

rclone sync /var/lib/docker/volumes/dagu_data/_data backup:<bucket>/dagu_data

Paths assume the default Docker volume location (/var/lib/docker/volumes). Restore by stopping the job, restoring files into the same volume, and re-running the pack.

Readme

dagu

Dagu is a local-first workflow engine and a modern replacement for cron. You define workflows as DAGs in declarative YAML and Dagu runs them — shell commands, Docker containers, Kubernetes Jobs, remote commands over SSH and more — with a built-in web UI, scheduling, retries, logging and notifications. It's a single self-contained binary: no external database or message broker required.

This pack runs Dagu as a single host-networked Nomad service.

Deploy

nomad-pack run dagu --registry=nomploy

Open http://<node-ip>:8080 and create your first DAG.

Configuration

Variable Default Description
image ghcr.io/dagucloud/dagu:latest Container image (pin a tag in production).
port 8080 Host port for the web UI.
data_volume dagu_data Volume for DAGs, logs and state (/var/lib/dagu).
docker_sock /var/run/docker.sock Docker socket for container steps; "" to disable.
resources 300 MHz / 256 MB CPU and memory for the task.

Note: The Docker socket lets DAG steps start containers directly on the host — grant it only on nodes you trust, or set docker_sock="".

DAG definitions, run history and logs persist in data_volume.
